Second New Year

September is the mark of many things - The ninth month of the year. The end of Summer and beginning of autumn.  The start of a new academic year…  I was also reminded that September marks the Second New Year. Whether it’s a new school year, job, or simply a new season, September offers a second shot at the year.

Hearing September being framed this way got me thinking. New Year’s Resolutions are often like mythical creatures - something you want to believe in but you aren’t quite sure you’ll ever see them in reality. I took a peak at my list of New Year’s Resolutions from this January and wasn’t surprised to see that very few of them were checked off.

So in light of September being the Second New Year I have decided to redeem (and forgive) myself for my lack of completing these goals. I intend on following through with the remainder of my resolutions in the next four months and I hope all you are able to take the same opportunity.

To give you a push in the right direction, here are a few of my resolutions and how I plan to check them off the list by the years end:

Run more frequently as exercise

I have enrolled in the Oasis Zoo Run for the end of September, which encouraged me to get outside and train in order to finish with a commendable race time!

Pole Dancing

I have been wanting to take a pole dancing class for a couple years, and finally bought a Group On deal for Aradia Fitness with a friend for a discounted class! Watch out Britney, I’ll be a pole dancing pro in no time!

Photoshop Class

I have been curious about Photoshop for a few years now, and I finally enrolled myself in a course to learn the ropes! I promise to only use my newfound skills for good!

Now all I have to do is find someone to teach me Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance and I’ll be on a roll to the next New Year in 2012.
