Walk Off the Earth may have become an overnight success to the world after the discovery of their 5 people 1 guitar cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” (uploaded January 5, 2012… racking up 1.5 million viewers in just 24 hours), but they truly became an overnight obsession for me when last night I stumbled upon their video and was somehow one of the LAST people to find out about it. I have be raiding their YouTube for the past 24 hours and all I am is incredibly stunned and impressed one video after another. Please please everyone check them out and support the rest of their stuff! They are a real talent, and so close to home being from the general Toronto area, and recording in Burlington at B-Town Sound Studio.
After going viral so quickly, celebrities all over were tweeting about the video and WOTE performed on Ellen this past Monday January 23, 2012. In typical Ellen gift giving manner, she gave them each Fender guitars and amps so they no longer had only one guitar to play on. Now hitting 37, 555, 467 views (and counting…) of their Gotye video in 20 days, Walk Off the Earth have been delivered a fantastic opportunity, and I can’t wait to see them blow up even further!
